Family dance off

Something that we all have in common is the love for music and dancing. It is common the find us rocking out in the car, or having and dance off on the Wii. Either way, I say a family who dances together, stays together. It's fun to be silly.

Water Park

The other day we brought the kids to the Denham Springs Water Park. It is just a small park with a few water features, a play area and this cool musical game area. The kids enjoyed it and started working together to get a good score. The girls hit the top and Tyler hit the bottom.

Library Day

So, every Wednesday is library day for us. We have been bringing Tyler each week while the girls are at their Reading Camp. He loves it. He runs in and the first thing he does is get on the computer. It teaches him basic skills like how to use a mouse. He also gets to listen to Elmo and friends and watch fun skits. Martin usually reads to him also. The librarians have gotten used to us also. His favorite books right now are the Wanda Witch series....too bad there are only 4 books.

Tyler makes us laugh.....

Tyler always makes us laugh, but this video was especially funny. He has learned the Pledge of Allegience at daycare. It is so cute, even though he misses the whole "United States of America" and some other small parts in the end.

Preparing for our wedding day....

The other day we all went to several wedding venues. Martin was amazed that our weddings usually last only 3 hours. In England it is an all day affair. The place we love the most is Mount Hope Plantation in Baton Rouge. I took several pictures and video.

Smashed finger! oh no!

Today, Tyler smashed his finger in the door. It was horrible. He was so upset and it was so flat. After we calmed him down, we decided to wait until morning to bring him to the doctor. After seeing the doctor, and having his first set of x-rays, we found out that there was not a fracture.

Mail from Charlotte and Auntie Ann

The other day we were blessed with some special mail from England. Charlotte, our  new one year old cousin, and Auntie Ann sent us a postcard from Chatsworth House. This was especially awesome for me as I want to visit it when we go to England next summer. It was some of the backdrop for Pride and Prejudice, my favorite book and movie.

Hannah and Raynas Pizza Parlour

Today the girls decided to surprise mum when she gets home from work by having the tea already made!  Looks like they intend going into business in the near future having enjoyed their first experiment in cooking.  Now we've just got to wait till mum gets home so we can finish baking them, hurry up mum.

When mum and Tyler got home we all had some fantastic Pizza to eat.

It's a Hard Knock life

Now school is out there's still plenty of work to be done, around the house.  Today the girls set about doing the garden.

Summer Fun inside

Hannah and Rayna finished school before mummy so we've been finding fun things to do around the house (as its so hot outside).

Tylers new clothes

Tyler is a lucky boy and has some very good friends that give him clothes.  Recently he got a big bag full and found some of his favourite things including this cool jumper/hoody that turns into a skeleton when zipped up fully.  A firm favourite for the winter. Also another favourite was a brand new LSU cap (see the video).

The girls make 3rd Grade!!

There's been a lot going on in the last few weeks since Hannah and Raynas birthday party.  As school drew to a close for the summer we received some fantastic news that both Hannah and Rayna had been promoted to the third grade for next year.

I (Martin) was lucky enough to be able to go and see their awards being presented at a special school assembly in the last week of term. As well as making the grade the girls also received certificates, Hannah got an award for reading because she had improved so much in a year and a Top Cat certificate for overall behaviour in class.  Rayna received an award for getting A's and B's throughout the whole year and also got the Top Cat award. These are fantastic achievements and we're all very happy and proud.

Now in preparation for the next year there's going to be lot's of reading throughout the summer holidays!

Hannah and Raynas Birthday Party

OK so I guess it's my turn (Martin) to add something to our family blog.  At the weekend it was Rayna and Hannah's birthday party (the twins).  They had lots of friends come to their Nana's house and had a big swim party in her new pool.  Of course Tyler was there and also had his own birthday cake as it had been his birthday just a few days earlier.

Sometimes Tyler can be a little over confident for example, whilst in the pool he insisted he could swim and wanted to remove the ring that was keeping him afloat.  After a brief conversation where he insisted he could and I told him he couldn't we came to the agreement that he would show me how he could swim without the ring.  After a short trip to the bottom of the pool i lifted him up coughing and spluttering,  we quickly came to the mutual agreement that he couldn't actually swim and he really should be keeping the ring on.

Regardless of the minor overconfident problems everyone had great fun, which ended somehow in jumping onto me from the steps of the pool.

Great Fun ;0)

A new dawn, a new day, a new life.........

So, the question is why am I starting this blog. Well, our new life is starting and so I thought how about start this blog to help my family and Martin's family keep up with us. We are not the Wilmott family yet, but we feel like we are. It all started last December when Martin and I started talking "Across the Pond". As my students say, it was "Love at first Skype". We started talking more and more until he came for a visit in January. During his eight weeks with us, we grew to love each other very much. My children especially had fun learning how to eat with fork and knife at almost every meal, the correct way to drink tea, how to play futball and of course, eating beans on toast. We also learned that you can eat beans with every meal....even breakfast.
